Policy Paper and Forum on Social Entrepreneurship and Technology

On 14 October 2018, a forum on Social Entrepreneurship took place at the Startup Haus Tunis, organized by Dhekra El Hidri and Nizar Baassoussi in the framework of the Bavarian-Tunisian Policy Advice and Strategy Development Program of the Center for Applied Policy Research (C·A·P) together with its Tunisian partners UTIL, the Arab Institute for Human Rights and the Faculty for Juridical, Political and Social Sciences of the University of Carthage.

The two experts of the Change Alliance pour le Développement together with the initiatives We Love Kairouan and H-CORP and in cooperation with Startup Haus Tunis / enpact gathered several dozens of young professionals and social entrepreneurs as well as other experts on the topic to discuss the challenges and opportunities of social entrepreneurship in Tunisia.



Best practice examples, such as Magasine AgroTech, Naturalis in Jendouba and NextGen were introduced to the audience. A panel included topics for discussion on “Entrepreneuriat Social and Radicalisation” (by Moez Ali, UTIL), on “Leadership and management quality of Social entrepreneur” (by Lotfi Saibi, Founder of 4dlh), “Social Innovation for Collective Impact” (by Akram Haddad, CEO of H-CORP), and on “Entrepreneuriat Social dans le bassin de la Méditerranée” (by Ahmed Al Damrawy of the Let’s Work Initiative – CSFS).

In addition, the panel was followed by a Business-to-Business session of social entrepreneurs and young professionals from Kairouan, Tunis, Kef, Siliana, Jenouba and Kasserine. The B2B session was moderated by Nizar Baassoussi.

Last but not least, Dhekra ElHidri presented the Policy Paper "Social Entrepreneurship in the MENA Region: For Inclusion and Sustainable Development", which was published in the C·A·Perspectives on Tunisia Series of the Policy Advice and Strategy Development Program.
