Bavarian-Tunisian Cooperation

German National Day celebrates cooperation with Tunisia

H.E. Dr. Beate Merk, Bavarian State Minister for European Affairs, together with a delegation traveled to Tunisia for the celebrations of the German National Day of 3rd October, and to hold talks with state officials. She met with H.E. Slim Khalbous, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, to a conversation about further possibilities of cooperation in the education and higher education, as well as to exchange views with H.E. Hatem Falcon, Secretary of State for Economic Diplomacy in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Bavaria and Tunisia are connected since 2012 through a partnership agreement and an intensive exchange on political and administrative level. Bavarian commitment aims at the strengthening of the democratic process in Tunisia. Bavaria and Tunisia working in the fields of economy, vocational training, environment, civil and civil protection, judiciary, civil society as well as in strengthening the rights of women. The State Government also has Tunisia as a priority country in the Special Program “Bavaria 2017-2018 - Prospects for refugees in their home countries" recorded with the aim of strengthening the stability in the North African States. Numerous special projects are currently in the implementation, such as the program “Policy Advice and Strategy Development”, organized by C·A·P together with UTIL, the Arab Institute of Human Rights and the Faculty of Juridical, Political and Social Sciences of Tunis.
