From 6 to 8 September 2019, 23 innovators from all over Europe gathered at the Center for Applied Policy Research (C·A·P) in Munich for a training on innovation in the context of European politics and global challenges. Their joint ambition was to enhance their knowledge about European innovation policies and the decision making process of the EU, and to strengthen their competences and skills in strategic thinking on innovation topics and social challenges related to European and global affairs in general and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in particular. The training program titled "Next Europe: Finding Strategic Answers in the Era of Innovation" was developed by the C·A·P in collaboration with the prestigious European Institute for Innovation and Technology in Budapest (EIT), and operated by Maurizio Scelsi (C·A·P) and Monika Kotulak (EIT).

The participants coming from various professional backgrounds such as European universities and research labs, enterprises and start-ups, as well as some with EIT affiliation, were representing the creative and innovative generation of "Next Europe" in a pluralistic way. They received first-hand knowledge and engaged interactively during the training sessions. Formative inputs were given by Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Werner Weidenfeld (C·A·P Director), Dr. Rolf Nagel (Member of the EIT Governing Board), Chantal Ebelsheiser (LMU InnovationsGeist) and Maruchi Yoshida (Participatory Consultant and Founder of Kurecon). Simon Kirnberger (Technical University Munich) served as a trainer and instructor to the participants. In addition to the trainings, a trip to Impact Hub Munich had been organized to give them further insights into the rich local startup field of Munich.

At the end of the training, each participant was rewarded with a certificate issued by EIT and C.A.P. from Professor Weidenfeld.
