Visit of Chinese Middle East Experts

Exchange of Thoughts on the Region and EU-China cooperation potentials

On 25 September 2017, a delegation of distinguished scholars from the Institute of West-Asian and African Studies (IWASS) of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences visited the C·A·P for an exchange of thoughts and research results. Professor Weidenfeld welcomed Dr. Tang Zhichao, Director of the Middle East Studies Program at IWASS and head of the delegation as well as his colleagues Professor Yu Guoqing, Dr. Wang Feng and Dr. Wei Min.

Together with Dr. Reinhardt Rummel, Michael Bauer and Ludwig Schulz, the delegation discussed hot topics of current Middle East politics as well as Chinese and European perspectives on the regional developments and turbulences since the Arabellion. Furthermore, potentials and challenges of enhanced cooperation between China and Europe on the political, economic and social as well as academic level were discussed. Follow-up meetings have been welcomed by all participants.
