European Studies meets European Commission

Joachim Menze, Head of the Representation Office of the European Commission to Munich
This year’s participants of the LMU's EU-China Summer University Program, conducted by the Center for Applied Policy Research (C·A·P), on 22 August 2016 welcomed Joachim Menze, Head of the Representation Office of the European Commission to Munich at the Geschwister-Scholl-Institute of Political Science.
In his lecture, Mr. Menze not only introduced into the priorities of the current EU Commission under President Jean-Claude Juncker, he also gave a personal idea of how Europe has changed in the last two decades in terms of EU institutions, decision-making processes, normativity and legitimacy.
The students from Beijing University, Tsinghua University, Renmin University, Fudan University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Tongji University and Zheijiang University used the chance to get into debate with Mr. Menze on the Juncker Commission's priorities such as employment and economic growth, the digital union, a new migration policy, TTIP or climate change.
