UNESCO – Information Society:
provides information about programs and projects on the information society around the world. You can find links to governments’ action plans around the globe, special coverage of questions concerning privacy, on-line governance, freedom of expression and many more.

European Union – Information Society:
This portal explores how the Information Society will impact Europe's economy and the way Europeans get access to education and training and improve their quality of life, the Information Society will also have a pervasive effect on European culture and society.

France – Information Society:
The French government homepage on France and the Information Society. It contains all information on projects, speeches and programs of the French government.
"Preparing France’s entry into the information society” (fr, en, de, sp) is a text concerning information technologies and education, public service, culture and business.

United Kingdom – Information Society:
This site provides an overview of UK government publications dealing with the information society. Mostly about how information technology can modernize the government and public service.

Germany – Information Society:
The homepage of the Federal Ministry of Economy and Technology describes the project to further the development of Germany into an information society. Various texts on the social impact of the new information technologies can be found there, too. Check out the Government’s information society action plan for Germany until 2006.

The European Data Protection Supervisor is concerned with the problem of the spread of personal data in an information society. He is responsible for monitoring the processing of personal data by the European Community institutions and bodies.

USA – Information Society:
The White House provides speeches, documents, action plans and else concerning chances and risks of the information society. Recently the main topic seems to be security in the cyberspace.

Japan –Information Society: the shushou kantei,
The Japanese equivalent to the White House sponsors news on the economic and social aspects of the new society. Key documents concentrating on social aspects: report of the Japanese government on the change of the Japanese society in the 21st century, or report on the government’s action plan towards the promotion of an advanced information and telecommunications society.
