It provides leadership in addressing issues that confront the future of the Internet, and is the organization home for the groups responsible for Internet infrastructure standards. Information Society Commission: The Information Society Commission (ISC) is an independent advisory body to Government in Ireland. The ISC has a key role in shaping the evolving public policy framework for the Information Society. Statistisches Bundesamt Deutschland: Here you can find statistics about Information Society. Stiftung Digitale Chancen: The goal of the Stiftung Digitale Chancen (Digital Opportunities Foundation) is to make people interested in the Internet and to support them with their first steps. The Initiative D21 is a public-private partnership to further the development of the German Information Society. Association for Computing Machinery is the world’s first educational and scientific computing society. Most of the articles deal with technological questions but talk about new forms of education. This institute provides information about the status and difficulties of applying information technologies at schools in Japan. Offers surveys about usage of multimedia in Japanese High Schools and a virtual University forum. The Virtual Institute of Information provides information to different themes. The Global Information Infrastructure Commission’s site about education provides some articles about education and the Information Society. Has a large list of links to other sites concerned with education issues, as well as to international organizations, research institutes and companies. International Society for Technology in Education promoting information technology in learning, teaching and teachers education. Offers mainly material on how to use new information technologies in the classroom. ISTE’s research projects also concentrate on the same matter. The Milken Family Foundation is a similar organization also promoting the application of new communication technologies in students and teachers education. The Morino Institute, a nonprofit organization that explores the opportunities and risks of the Internet and the New Economy to advance social change.
