Institutions & Foundations

In this section you can find various institutions and foundations providing information and links about new media, technology and their convergence and different areas of art.

19.04.2005 · Research Group on the Global Future

As the name indicates, the German Center for Art and Media Technology in Karlsruhe deals with new media, technology and their convergence. The site is divided up into six categories, reflecting the different areas of activity and gives a lot of links to new media art sites, exhibitions all over the world and ZKM’s projects in commercial and non-commercial areas.

The Berlin Academy of Arts is made up of six sections: music, literature, fine arts, performing arts, architecture and media arts. The members of the single sections belong to the European vanguard in their disciplines. The institute organizes its own exhibitions and conferences and one can find publications, books and videos about the listed fields of art. The documents are not interactive, as the institute is not so much concerned with new media and Internet art, but rather with the past and the present of ongoing off-line art.

Arts Council England is the national development agency for the arts in England, distributing public money from Government and the National Lottery. They believe that the arts have the power to transform lives and communities, and to create opportunities for people throughout the country.

Objective of the Daniel Langlois Foundation for Art, science and technology is to enable the "meeting of art and science in the field of technology” by presenting contemporary artistic practices that use digital technologies

The Institute of International Visual Art is an U.K. based institute, with an inclination towards cultural products and the representation of ethnic art. Its site contains parts of its projects, lists of art resources, databases and links.

The Banff Center holds conferences on arts and tries to bring together artists from the new media scene. Offers some resources and many art links.

Homepage of Ars Electronica, a discussion forum on the impacts of new media on daily life. Stages conferences, too.
